I have used several different ways to get colostrum into our orphaned lambs to help them survive their first day, if either their mum dies or she won’t take her lamb or she has triplets she can’t cope with.
I milk the mother and get the colostrum. This is really hard on my back.
I buy colostrum from my local vet
I foster a lamb onto a ewe that has lost a lamb.
I prefer to foster the lamb onto a new mum. It saves me getting a bottle several times a day to the lamb. I don’t like tying the ewe up on a short rope but given time she will generally take the lamb.
