When I was a kid on the family farm, Dad always put a ram harness on the rams so we could identify the ewes that had been mated. I haven’t seen many ram harnesses used in Australia up until recently. With more shedding sheep the ram harnesses are seeing a come back in Australia. My wife’s parents use a ram harness in Scotland. They didn’t pregnancy scan their ewes and found that their flock of 30 ewes had a chalk mark on their backs and all ewes lambed out. Have you ever used a ram harness to identify ewes that have been mated?
